Should I be a data scientist or ML engineer if I want to build an AI startup? What’s better for me?

Hey everyone, I’m studying data science right now, but I’m wondering if I should switch and focus on becoming an ML engineer instead. My goal is to really get deep into AI and maybe start my own business one day.

I’d love to know what you think: Should I stick with data science or would shifting to ML engineering help me reach my goals faster? I know I’d lose a year, but I’m willing to make that sacrifice if it’s worth it. What do you all think?

I’d say you should look for something that involves hands-on work. Like an electrical engineer or a mechanical engineer. If AI can do all the work on its own, with no human touch, maybe that’s a different kind of job. But if you’re looking to create something new with AI, then get as hands-on as possible!
