I saw a projection that ChatGPT traffic might cross Google’s by December 2026. While I don’t think this will actually happen, it got me thinking. How much do you use ChatGPT versus Google? Do you think ChatGPT could disrupt search engines, or are they too different to compare?
I think they solve different problems. Google’s great for finding sources and broader information, while ChatGPT is more direct. Both have their strengths.

That’s true. I use ChatGPT for quick answers but still rely on Google for anything requiring deeper research.
@Denny
Same here. I wonder if ChatGPT will eventually link more sources like Google does.

But don’t you think ChatGPT could replace simple Google searches? Like when you just need a straightforward answer?
ChatGPT feels more conversational, which is great for some tasks, but I don’t see it taking over Google entirely. They complement each other.

Agreed. Google still has the edge in real-time updates and multimedia content. ChatGPT isn’t there yet.
I wonder if ChatGPT’s growth will push Google to innovate faster. They’ve already started integrating AI with Bard.

That’s a good point. Competition usually drives innovation. We might see some big changes in search soon.
One issue with ChatGPT is traffic quality. It’s great for users, but does it actually drive meaningful visits to other sites?

Exactly. Google gives you multiple sources, while ChatGPT just gives you one answer. That could be limiting.
I think both will coexist. ChatGPT is great for interactional tasks, while Google remains strong for transactional and exploratory searches.
