Can universities detect ChatGPT?

Hey there,

I’ve been pondering something lately and I’m curious to hear your thoughts.

Do you think universities have the capability to detect when we’re using ChatGPT for assignments or discussions?

I have heard some rumors, but I’m not entirely sure. What do you all think? Let’s discuss!

I believe institutions have the ability to detect AI-generated content using plagiarism detection techniques and AI detection technologies. However, efficacy varies, and being ethical by employing AI for learning rather than cheating is critical. Transparency in AI usage may also promote trust and fair judgment.

Some tools are being developed specifically to identify content generated by AI models like ChatGPT. OpenAI itself has released a classifier to distinguish AI-written text from human-written text, although it has limitations and is not always accurate.

Most universities are in the process of creating AI detection tools. Earlier on they mostly relied on the Turnitin AI Detection, but it was 100% since it produced many false positives.
This doesn’t mean that you cant use Ai to create your assignments, just make sure that you are smarter than your professor
