AI is making waves in music composition. It can create songs, lyrics, and even imitate famous artists. As technology advances, will AI become the dominant force in music, or will human creativity still have a place? What do you think about this shift?

Hey everyone, just a heads up on some basic rules for posting:
- Please make your post detailed (over 100 characters is great).
- Check the search function first—someone else may have already posted about AI taking jobs!
- Feel free to discuss both the good and bad sides of AI, just keep it respectful.
- Be sure to back up your arguments with links if possible.

I don’t think AI-generated music is going to stop getting better anytime soon. It’ll just keep improving until it can write music better than most humans. Good music is rare, and people usually only have a handful of songs they really love. But what happens when we can get the best song ever written with the push of a button? I’m worried that if AI keeps advancing in music, games, and movies, social media addiction could become a much bigger problem.
@Uma
You’re missing a big point—music is about connecting with the human experience. Even if AI can make impressive music, it won’t have the same meaning without the human touch. Artists who treat AI as a new tool will make amazing things. But as for unlimited music, that’s more for places like elevators, not something we need in our personal music taste.
No way. AI can’t create anything as groundbreaking as David Bowie’s music without previous Bowie tracks to learn from. AI is just taking an average of past works, and that’s the issue.

Exactly! AI has its place, but it’s not going to replace human creativity. Even if AI could make new art on its own, people will always want to create their own art. We’re creative by nature, and that won’t change.
@Sonny
AI can’t even get close to replacing human creativity. Even current metrics say AI can only handle about 45% of tasks. And that’s just the basics like office work. AI is nowhere near good enough to take over anything as personal as music creation.
AI can’t replace human creativity.
You can’t say that for sure. We’re talking about AI over time, and with exponential growth, it’ll eventually do it. It’s already starting, just in small ways. The question is when will it be capable of taking over fully?
@Sonny
If you’re talking about 1000 years, maybe. But in the next decade? No way. I work in AI, and trust me, we’re nowhere near that level yet. It’s not magic; it’s just math.

Yes, AI will surpass most human music creations, or at least most of what’s out there.
@Gray
But I’m talking about truly great music, not what most people make. AI might be able to create average music, but it won’t come close to the top-tier stuff like Da Vinci’s art or Beethoven’s symphonies.

Nah.
AI is already better than 99% of people at creating images, and audio is following the same trend. It’s only going to improve.

We’re not ‘early’ in AI—this technology is already 20 years old. AI might be good, but it’s still nowhere near replacing the top 1% of artists. And I’m talking about the best of the best, not the average.
No, AI music won’t replace human creators. But it will make it easier for people to create music, with less talent needed as AI tools improve.
Playing music is still fun, and no one’s going to stop because computers can do it. In the future, we’ll live in a world where everything is more abundant. Maybe AI-generated music will be part of that future.
AI will be a tool, just like anything else. It won’t replace human creators in the process, just help out.
Synthesized music has been around for over 20 years, like in songs with autotune. AI will make music creation easier, just like how synthesized instruments are now standard. In the future, AI could generate music on demand in any genre.
@Dru
I think humans will still make music, but AI will dominate the scene. It can generate any genre you ask for, so you’ll have music for every taste, and it won’t have to sound modern either.
After watching Billie Eilish perform last night… Yeah, AI is going to take over.

Why do you think that?
