I was looking for posts comparing AI subscriptions but most don’t seem to match what I need. Also, older posts might be outdated, so I decided to ask here.
I use ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Grok almost daily. Sometimes I check the same question with multiple AIs. I often hit the usage limits on both ChatGPT and Claude in the same day when I’m curious about stuff.
I’m not using these for work or research. It’s more for everyday things like breaking down complex ideas, debugging why my home server crashed, organizing files, fixing grammar in my blog posts, analyzing my doctor’s handwritten notes, doing some math, writing small Python scripts, summarizing videos, or catching up on news.
From what I’ve noticed: Claude is better with coding and math, while ChatGPT handles language stuff better (although I always have to remind it to keep things concise and stick to summaries without extra opinions). Grok and Perplexity are more for second opinions after asking ChatGPT and Claude.
Now, I’m thinking about subscribing to either GPT or Claude. Ideally, I’d subscribe to both, but the cost is hard to justify. If I can only pick one, which one gives the best value?
EDIT:
Just found out Perplexity is offering me a free month, which includes access to both Sonnet 3.5 and GPT-4o. For now, I’ll test them out and see how it goes.

Why not try each one for a month? Cancel after trying and see which fits you best.
I’ve already tried most of them and know what to expect. The main issue is figuring out which paid subscription gives better value. ChatGPT Plus offers:
80 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4o.
40 messages every 3 hours on GPT-4.
Claude Pro’s limits are harder to pin down since it depends on message and conversation length. They claim 45+ messages every 5 hours for shorter exchanges. It’s tough to say which gives more for the price.
Why not share a subscription? Get both GPT and Claude by splitting the cost with others. You might think it’s risky, but if you find a trusted group, it works great. Both tools are so good that skipping one feels like a loss.
You can find people offering shared subscriptions online. Just search for ‘Claude subscription share’ or ‘ChatGPT share’ on Facebook or Google. Be careful and check reviews before buying.
ChatGPT was built with big ambitions in mind, aiming for a broader kind of intelligence. Future models, though, might shift to being more focused tools due to competition. The earlier versions of GPT definitely feel like they had a unique edge.
