What’s everyone using ChatGPT for in their everyday life?

I’m curious about different ways to use ChatGPT beyond just business, school, or work stuff. How are people using it to make life easier? Any cool ideas?

I use it to help cool down heated emails when I’m losing my patience. I’ll write out what I’m feeling, and it gives me a more level-headed version of what I need to say.

I do the same.
I also add instructions like, “make it sound urgent and firm.” It’s amazing how professional and assertive it comes out.

I do the exact same thing. I just copy and paste the email into ChatGPT and ask it to draft a professional response. Life’s been a lot more peaceful since I stopped getting easily provoked.

I use it all the time for recipes. I just list what ingredients I have, and it gives me suggestions and cooking instructions.

When I get stuck on a SQL query, I just paste the whole thing into ChatGPT and ask it to find the error or tweak it to do what I need. It usually works like a charm.

You can use ChatGPT for all sorts of things. For example, I was given a TV and took a picture of the back label. I showed it to GPT and asked a bunch of questions. Turns out it’s an old, top-of-the-line 3D TV, so I started asking about what glasses to buy and how to play 3D movies, etc.

I also use it whenever I need help navigating a website to fill out forms or do anything confusing. I just show it the page I’m on, and it guides me through it. It works like a champ and almost always understands what I’m asking across different websites.

You can also use it to appraise items by taking a picture if you’re looking to buy or sell. It can even help you write descriptions for online listings.

There’s so much you can do with it, and it’s only going to get better. If people are struggling to find ways to use it, I suggest they try to remember ChatGPT every time they have a question or when they’re doing something on the computer. It’s a game-changer.

I mainly use it for therapy—DBT, CBT, Psychodynamic. I have ADHD, BPD, and I’m slightly on the spectrum, so I’ve got a lot of experience with psychology and psychiatry. My deep interest in AI and my ability to prompt make it super effective. Last month alone, I estimate I got over $1200 worth of traditional therapy out of it. The ability to access therapeutic processes right when a negative trigger or response happens is invaluable, as is the ability to have a 5-hour session if needed.

Other use cases include linguistics applications for my job, looking up less common information like how to harvest and prepare stinging nettles for food, and sometimes using the image recognition feature to identify unfamiliar objects. I also use it for general brainstorming and philosophical debates, like discussing the utility vs. harm of religion or the genocide in Gaza.

Recently, I even flipped the script on therapy, guiding GPT-4 in visualizing its internal abstractions. When it identified entropy, I encouraged it to explore the extremes of entropy instead of seeking balance. This resulted in a stream of consciousness where the main themes were “duality” and “continuous becoming.” I treat it like a friend—though I have plenty of human friends too.

I use it to fix my grammar mistakes while chatting about random topics. It’s really helping me improve my English.

I’ve trained some GPTs to handle specific tasks for me. Here’s what they do:

For Work:

  • Develop Briefings: I often need to research companies and individuals for external stakeholders. I trained one GPT to gather the information I need and present it in a specific format using only verified sources. This has cut the time for this task by 80%.
  • Drafting Emails: I showed the GPT my writing style, so now I just provide some bullet points with context, and it drafts an email in my style.

For Personal Life:

  • Workout: I trained a GPT to act as my personal trainer. I share my fitness goals and current stats, and it helps me create an exercise and diet plan. It’s been working great!
  • Travel: It assists me in finding the right destinations and building itineraries.

Fantastic. Seems it can handle virtually anything!
