To remove Bing AI (or the Bing Chat integration) from Windows 11, you can follow these steps that i followed and managed to remove the Bing Ai:

Method 1: Via Registry Editor

  1. Open Registry Editor:
  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type regedit and press Enter.
  1. Navigate to the following key:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
  1. Create a new DWORD value:
  • Right-click on the Explorer key.
  • Select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  • Name it DisableSearchBoxSuggestions.
  1. Set the value:
  • Double-click on DisableSearchBoxSuggestions.
  • Set the Value data to 1.
  • Click OK.
  1. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Method 2: Via Group Policy Editor (for Pro and Enterprise versions)

  1. Open Group Policy Editor:
  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
  1. Navigate to:
  • User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer
  1. Disable Search Highlights:
  • Find and double-click on Disable search highlights.
  • Set it to Enabled.
  • Click Apply and then OK.
  1. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Method 3: Via Settings (for disabling search highlights)

  1. Open Settings:
  • Press Win + I to open the Settings app.
  1. Navigate to:
  • Privacy & security > Search permissions
  1. Turn off Search Highlights:
  • Under the More settings section, toggle off Show search highlights.

To remove bing ai from windows 11 you just need to Disable Bing Chat AI from the Search, then Scroll down to the Windows permissions section and then click on the Search permissions from the list and Now, scroll down to the on More settings section and toggle off the Show search highlights option. The Bing Chat AI icon will no longer appear in the search field.

Removing Bing AI entirely from Windows 11 is not possible coz its integrated into the system but you can disable it from showing up in your searches.

  • Open Settings (Win + I) and navigate to Privacy & security > Search permissions.
  • Turn off both toggles: Microsoft account and Work or School account.
  • Scroll down and disable Show search highlights.

Howdy Liz ! To Disable Bing Chat AI from the Search
Scroll down to the Windows permissions section and click on Search permissions from the list. Now, scroll down to the More settings section and toggle off the Show search highlights option. The Bing Chat AI icon will no longer appear in the search field.
