One of the most annoying things when talking to AIs is they often give way more information than you need. You just want a short, clear answer, but instead, they go on with background details and extra info you didn’t ask for.
A great feature about ChatGPT is that you can customize how it responds to you. If you ask it to give short answers, it might not listen at first. But if you keep asking in different ways, it’ll finally understand.
Here’s what I did to get short, one-sentence answers:
In the ‘what would you like ChatGPT to know about you’ box, I wrote:
“I need your answers to be no longer than one sentence.”
Then, in the ‘how would you like ChatGPT to respond’ box, I wrote:
“Answer all queries in just one sentence. It may be a long sentence, but it should only be one sentence. Don’t give a full paragraph, just one sentence. Don’t make your answers longer than one sentence.”
This saves you from reading through long paragraphs of unnecessary information. It lets you have a quicker back-and-forth with ChatGPT. If it doesn’t give enough detail in its first answer, you can just ask for more information in your next question.
I think this feature should be in every AI. There should even be a button for ‘answer with one sentence’ so you can easily use this method anytime you need a more concise response.
I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me!
