Google may soon bring a cool new feature to Gemini... audio overviews?

Google is working on a new feature for Gemini that will turn documents into engaging audio. The feature, called Audio Overviews, will allow users to listen to AI-generated voices narrating documents in a fun and dynamic way. It’s a great option for people who prefer listening to reading, and it could make learning and research easier. Right now, the feature is still being developed, but early signs from the beta of the Google app suggest it’s on its way. Gemini already offers text summaries, but Audio Overviews will make research more interactive by turning documents into audio content.

The feature will also make use of AI personalities to create lively conversations, which could make learning more entertaining. Imagine having a conversation about a complex topic with an AI that explains things while keeping it light and fun. It seems perfect for multitasking. If this feature expands, it might even allow us to use our own voices in the conversations—who knows? Stay tuned for more updates on this breakthrough AI feature.

A while back, I started exploring Notebook LM and was pretty impressed by the audio overviews they had. It’s still a work in progress, but it makes sense that Google could bring this feature to Gemini. I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up combining it with NotebookLM. One thing I wish it had, though, is the ability to add your own voice to the conversation. It would be great to participate live, like in a podcast. Maybe one day?

Yeah, NotebookLM is cool, but it loses its novelty pretty quickly. It’ll be interesting to see how people use it once it’s more widely available.
