In a few years, jobs based on computers will be replaced by agents. I used to think this would take longer, but with tools automating systems like comfyui, I think unemployment will worsen. Wealth will be in the hands of just a few people, and we may even see wars. AI-driven machines could cause destruction, and AI-generated fake news might tear apart democracy. And let’s not forget about climate change—human civilization could be in danger.

Plutocracy disguised as Democratic Capitalism has taken over.
“A rising tide lifts all boats…”
But the majority of people are struggling while a few live comfortably on mega yachts.
Now these yachts will be controlled by AGI, and the wealthy will escape to Mars. The rest of us will get AR/VR headsets and plug into virtual worlds, earning digital money tied to the assets of the ultra-wealthy. It’s a new world order, and we’re just living in it.
@Kingsley
How will people earn digital money? How do we bring value?

Have you heard of Worldcoin? It’s now called World. The Orb scans your eyes, and it’s already in use. People can 3D print parts for the Orb and order the rest online.
Then they can become eye collectors. Each scan earns people some digital currency—I’ve heard it’s about $100, but I’m not sure what the collector gets.
Check it out for yourself. I just wanted to share this with you.
@Bex
I’ve heard of Worldcoin, but I haven’t looked into it yet. You’ve got me interested now. Thanks!
@Kingsley
That’s a pretty optimistic view. Once AGI arrives, non-wealthy people will be worthless to the rich. We’ll just be a drain on resources. They might keep us around, or they could just eliminate us. It’s up to them.
@Kingsley
Ready Player One vibes.
No, I’m not afraid of the future.
Trying to predict the future is like trying to predict the paths of planets. There’s a lot of forces at play, and we can’t know the outcome.
It’s worth thinking about, but don’t assume you know what’s going to happen. Your brain lies to you, just like AI can. But the difference is, AI doesn’t say ‘trust me’—it just delivers results.
What we do know is that AI can give us more power. If all jobs are replaced, it could actually double the capacity of the workforce. Climate change? We made it, we can fix it.
We don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s okay to guess, just don’t treat it like fact.
@Hart
So, you’re saying it’s all a gamble. But is that really how a responsible society should act?

Life’s a gamble. Get over it.

That’s a terrible way to think about running a society. Sure, individual lives are a gamble, but society needs stability.
If we keep making reckless choices, we’ll be extinct soon. AI doesn’t have to be a gamble if we approach it carefully. We can develop AGI slowly, without risking everything.
@Ori
It’s coming anyway because of game theory. If we go extinct, we won’t care. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
@Ori
After everything we’ve been through in history, it feels wrong to centralize power now. It seems crazy.
Grieve for the past, not the future.
I don’t know if it’s fear, but I’m definitely concerned. Humans adapt well to new technology, but the idea of AI-controlled kill bots is scary. It’s much easier to take life when you’re not directly involved.
I don’t think human civilization will collapse, but there will be challenges. People will have to learn how to adapt.
I fear that too much regulation will stop progress towards true AGI. And no, I’m not a bot.

As for wealth, AI will bring the biggest redistribution of wealth in history with universal basic income (UBI).
@Mackenzie
You’re dreaming. Sure, there’ll be a redistribution of wealth, but it’ll mostly go to the owners of AI. Workers will lose their value, and everything will be controlled by the ultra-rich.
